JobVolt Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 19, 2026 Last updated: July 19, 2026
The short version
JobVolt is built to collect as little about you as possible.
- There is no account, no sign-up, and no login. You use JobVolt anonymously.
- JobVolt runs no server of its own. Everything you create — your calculations, reports, saved blocks, preferences, and your Company Profile (including your logo) — is stored only on your device.
- A small amount of technical data does leave your device and is handled by three service providers, but only to run your app-store subscription, keep the app from crashing, and understand which features are used. This includes your device's IP address and an anonymous app identifier. We explain exactly what, to whom, and why in Section 5.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
This policy covers the JobVolt mobile app (published on the app stores as JobVolt: NEC Electrician Calc, for iOS and Android) and the jobvolt.app website.
1. Who we are (the data controller)
JobVolt is provided by Capionic LTD, a limited company registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. In this policy we call ourselves "we", "us", or "our".
For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller for the limited personal data described here. Because we are established in the United Kingdom, UK data protection law applies to our processing even though JobVolt is deliberately not offered to users in the United Kingdom and is instead distributed to users in the United States, several Latin American countries, and the Philippines (see Section 2). The rights in Sections 8 and 11 are therefore available to all JobVolt users, wherever you live.
Contact for all privacy matters: support@jobvolt.app
We do not have a Data Protection Officer (we are not required to appoint one). Requests are handled directly by us.
2. Who JobVolt is for and where it is available
JobVolt is a professional National Electrical Code (NEC) calculation and reporting tool for licensed electricians, supervised apprentices, and other electrical professionals. It calculates against the 2023 or 2026 editions of the NEC. It is a tool for adults working in a trade. It is not directed to children (see Section 10).
Where JobVolt is available. JobVolt is deliberately limited to jurisdictions that use the NEC or an NEC-derived electrical code. It is offered in the United States (including Puerto Rico), Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, and the Philippines. It is not offered in the United Kingdom, the EU/EEA, Canada, or Australia/New Zealand, which use different electrical codes (such as BS 7671, the Canadian Electrical Code, and AS/NZS 3000). If you use JobVolt outside the countries where it is offered, you are responsible for your local laws.
The app interface is available in English and Spanish. PDF reports and NEC code terminology remain in English, the language electrical inspections expect.
3. What we do NOT collect
- No account or identity data. We never ask for or receive your name, email address, phone number, username, or password from the app.
- No first-party server or cloud sync. We run no backend that receives or stores the work you create. Nothing you build in the app is uploaded to us.
- No location tracking. JobVolt does not request or use your device's GPS/precise location. (Note: the service providers in Section 5 receive your IP address, which gives an approximate, coarse location; we configure them to discard/limit it — see Section 5.)
- No camera, contacts, or microphone access.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA / Android Advertising ID) and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not participate in any advertising network.
- No sale or "sharing" of personal information (as those terms are defined under California law).
Consistent with this, our Apple privacy manifest declares no tracking (NSPrivacyTracking = false).
4. What stays on your device
Almost everything you do in JobVolt is stored locally on your device only, in the device's on-device database (SQLite) and local app storage (AsyncStorage):
- Your calculations — the inputs you enter and the results computed.
- Your reports and calculation "blocks" — your saved work.
- Your app preferences and settings — including tutorial flags and your locale-based language choice.
- Your Company Profile (optional). If you fill it in, it stores locally: your company name, license number, phone and/or email contact, a signatory print name, and a company logo image you pick from your photo library. These are printed into the PDF reports you generate on the device.
This on-device content leaves your device only when you decide to share it. If you generate a PDF and choose to email, message, print, or share it, that PDF (which may include your company details and logo) goes only where you send it. We never receive a copy.
Your on-device content is protected by your device's own security. On iOS and Android, app data is sandboxed, and it is encrypted at rest when you have a device passcode or biometric lock enabled. If your device has no passcode, that OS-level encryption may not apply. Deleting the app removes this on-device content (see Section 9).
Photo library permission
JobVolt requests photo library access for one purpose only: so you can pick a company logo for your reports. The chosen image is stored locally and used only inside the PDFs you generate. We do not scan, upload, or otherwise use your photo library. You can decline or revoke this permission in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
Notifications (local reminders only)
JobVolt uses local notifications for on-device reminders — for example, that a free trial is ending, that you have an unfinished draft to resume, an occasional usage nudge, a win-back reminder, or a launch-pricing reminder. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. There is no push token, no remote push server, and no notification data leaves your device. Some of these reminders are promotional; you can turn notifications off at any time in the app's settings or your device settings, and we will honor that choice.
Language
JobVolt's interface is available in English and Spanish. The app reads your device locale on the device to choose the display language. This is done locally and is not transmitted to us. PDF reports and NEC code terminology are produced in English.
In-app rating
JobVolt may occasionally show your device's native app-store rating prompt. This uses the operating system's standard feature and collects no data for us. Any rating you leave is handled by Apple or Google.
5. Data that DOES leave your device — our service providers
To run the paid features and keep the app reliable, JobVolt uses the service providers below. Each is active only if its access key is present in the released build — if a key is not shipped, that provider is not active and receives nothing. None of them receive your name or contact details from us, because we do not have them. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
Note that, like almost all networked software, each provider that receives data also receives your device's IP address at the point of connection (this is a technical necessity of any internet request) and may generate an anonymous, persistent identifier for your app install. Under UK data protection law (and comparable privacy laws elsewhere) these count as personal data even though they are not tied to your name. We configure the providers to minimize this (for example, disabling IP-based geolocation and not storing IP where the provider allows).
5.1 Apple App Store and Google Play — payments
- What they do: Process all purchases and subscription billing.
- What they receive: Your payment and account information, under Apple's or Google's own terms.
- What we receive: JobVolt never receives your card number or any payment-instrument data. We receive only the fact and status of a purchase, via RevenueCat.
- Policies: Apple — https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ ; Google — https://policies.google.com/privacy
5.2 RevenueCat — subscription management
- Purpose: To validate purchases, manage your subscription and trial status, and power "Restore Purchases".
- Data processed: An anonymous, app-generated RevenueCat identifier, purchase/receipt data from the app store, and technical connection data (including IP). The identifier is not your name or email and is not used to track you across other apps.
- Legal basis (UK GDPR): Performance of a contract (Art 6(1)(b)) — providing the subscription you bought.
- Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
5.3 Sentry — crash reporting (production builds only)
- Purpose: To detect and fix crashes so the app stays stable and accurate.
- Data processed: Device model, operating-system version, app version, crash stack traces, and technical connection data (including IP). We set
sendDefaultPii = falseand scrub identifiable strings before sending; we do not attach your Company Profile data. - Legal basis (UK GDPR): Legitimate interests (Art 6(1)(f)) — keeping a safety-critical tool stable, secure, and correct.
- Policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/
5.4 PostHog — product analytics
- Purpose: To understand which features are used and how the app performs, so we can improve it.
- Data processed: Product/usage events (for example, which calculator was opened), device metadata (device model, OS/app version), a persistent pseudonymous distinct identifier, and technical connection data (including IP). We disable IP-based geolocation and do not link this data to your real-world identity. We do not use autocapture, session replay, or advertising identifiers.
- Legal basis (UK GDPR): Legitimate interests (Art 6(1)(f)) — understanding and improving the product. You can opt out at any time (see Section 12).
- Policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
We do not transmit your Company Profile (company name, license number, contact, signatory name, or logo), your calculations, or your report contents to any of these providers. That content stays on your device.
6. How we use data, and the purposes
We, and the providers in Section 5 acting on our behalf, use the limited off-device data only to:
- Deliver, validate, and restore the subscription or one-time purchase you chose.
- Keep the app stable, secure, and free of crashes and defects.
- Understand feature usage and performance to improve JobVolt.
- Comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations relating to sales.
We do not use any data for advertising, cross-app tracking, profiling with legal or similarly significant effects, or automated decision-making.
7. Data retention
- On-device content is kept for as long as you keep it on your device. It is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. We cannot access or delete it for you because it never reaches us.
- RevenueCat retains the anonymous identifier and purchase records for as long as needed to manage your subscription and to meet our legal/tax record-keeping obligations (up to approximately 6 years for tax records).
- Sentry retains crash diagnostics for 90 days.
- PostHog retains usage analytics for 12 months.
- App stores retain purchase and billing records under their own policies and applicable tax law.
When data is no longer needed for these purposes, it is deleted or anonymized.
8. Your privacy rights (UK GDPR)
Because we are a UK-based controller, UK data protection law gives you rights over any personal data we hold, and we extend these rights to all JobVolt users. For most of what JobVolt does we hold nothing about you, because your content stays on your device and there is no account. Where we or our providers do process limited data, you have the right to:
- Access — ask what personal data we process about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete data we hold ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain cases.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including analytics.
- Portability — receive certain data in a portable format, where applicable.
- Withdraw consent — where processing relies on consent, withdraw it at any time.
How to exercise these rights: email support@jobvolt.app. Because we have no account for you, we may need details (such as your app-store transaction identifier or a screenshot of your RevenueCat identifier) to locate data relating to you and to forward a deletion request to the relevant provider. We respond within the time required by law (generally one month under UK GDPR).
Local privacy rights where JobVolt is available. In addition to the UK GDPR rights above, we honor the data-protection rights that apply to you under the laws of the country where you use JobVolt. For example, if you are in Mexico, we honor your rights under the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP), including your right to an aviso de privacidad and your ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation, and objection). We also honor comparable rights under the laws of the other Latin American countries where JobVolt is offered and the Philippines, as well as the California rights described in Section 11. Whatever your country, you can exercise these rights by emailing support@jobvolt.app, and we will respond as the applicable law requires.
Complaints. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113. You may also complain to the data-protection or consumer-protection authority in your own country. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
9. How to delete your data
- Delete individual items in the app (reports, blocks, calculations, or your Company Profile) at any time. You can also use Settings > Reset app data to erase all local data at once.
- Uninstall the app. This permanently removes all JobVolt data stored on your device. Note: uninstalling does not delete data already sent to RevenueCat, Sentry, or PostHog; to have that deleted, contact us (below).
- Revoke permissions (photo library, notifications) in your device settings at any time.
- For data held by our providers, email support@jobvolt.app and we will forward a deletion request to RevenueCat, Sentry, and/or PostHog to the extent the law requires and the provider allows. App stores may retain purchase and tax records they are legally required to keep.
10. Children's privacy
JobVolt is a professional trade tool for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 (in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, "COPPA") and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at support@jobvolt.app and we will delete it.
11. Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)
As a small company, we likely do not meet the thresholds that make the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) legally binding on us (broadly, $25M annual revenue, data on 100,000+ California consumers/households, or 50%+ of revenue from selling personal information). Regardless, we voluntarily provide the following and honor these rights for California residents.
Categories of personal information
Through the providers in Section 5, the following CCPA categories may be processed:
| CCPA category | Examples in JobVolt | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Anonymous RevenueCat id; PostHog pseudonymous distinct id; IP address; device identifiers in crash/analytics data | The app on your device | Manage purchases; app stability; analytics |
| Commercial information | Purchase/subscription records (product, status, receipts) | App store / RevenueCat | Provide and restore your purchase |
| Internet/network activity | In-app feature-usage events; device model, OS/app version | The app on your device | Analytics and crash diagnostics |
| Geolocation | Coarse, IP-derived only (we disable geo-resolution where possible) | Provider connection | Incidental to any internet request |
We do not process: precise geolocation, biometric information, sensitive personal information, protected-classification characteristics, education records, professional/employment information collected by us, or audio/visual data. Your Company Profile (company name, license number, contact, signatory name, logo) stays on your device and is not received by us or our providers, so it is outside what we "collect" under the CCPA.
We do not sell or share your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and have not done so in the preceding 12 months. Because there is no sale or sharing, there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism to operate. We do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose that would trigger a right to limit.
Your California rights
Right to know/access; right to delete; right to correct; right to opt out of sale/sharing (not applicable — we do neither); right to limit use of sensitive PI (not applicable); and right to non-discrimination — we will not deny service, change prices, or reduce quality for exercising a right.
How to exercise them
Email support@jobvolt.app. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to link your request to the limited data we or our providers hold (for example, an app-store transaction id). You may use an authorized agent (we may require proof of authorization). We respond within the CCPA timeframes (generally 45 days, extendable once).
12. Analytics and how to opt out
- In-app controls: Settings > Privacy has independent toggles for Usage analytics (PostHog) and Crash reports (Sentry). Turning a toggle off stops that provider from collecting further data on your device.
- Device-level controls: iOS "Ask App Not to Track" and Android "opt out of Ads Personalization" leave nothing to disable on our side (we use no advertising identifier or cross-app tracking), but you may use them freely.
- Contact us: email support@jobvolt.app to object to analytics/diagnostics or to request suppression/deletion.
The app remains fully functional if analytics are unavailable or blocked.
13. Security
- Because there is no central JobVolt server, there is no central store of your content to breach.
- Your on-device content is protected by device sandboxing and by OS encryption where you have a passcode/biometric lock enabled.
- Data exchanged with our providers is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS).
- Our providers maintain their own security programs, described in their policies.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we use reasonable, industry-standard safeguards.
14. International data transfers
We are based in the United Kingdom and offer JobVolt to users in the United States (including Puerto Rico), several Latin American countries, and the Philippines (see Section 2 for the full list). Our providers (RevenueCat, Sentry, PostHog, Apple, Google) are or may be located in the United States, so personal data is transferred internationally, including out of the UK/EEA. Where personal data is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by law — the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and/or an approved adequacy mechanism — as offered by each provider. Details of each provider's transfer safeguards are in their privacy policies linked in Section 5.
15. The jobvolt.app website
The jobvolt.app website is a static, informational marketing site. It does not set advertising cookies and does not run third-party advertising trackers. Our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and operations. The rights in Sections 8 and 11 apply to any personal data processed through the website.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version at jobvolt.app/privacy (and in the app where linked) and update the "Last updated" date. For significant changes we will take reasonable steps to make them more prominent. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
